A new one!

Well, we happened to both spot an anomaly yesterday in the front yard. It was a rose-breasted grosbeak, but without the rose. This bird had a yellow breast patch instead. We've researched in our books and haven't seen anything like it. Dave posted it to whatbird.com and you can visit the link to see comments. It seems like it's a first time for others as well.

In fact, one poster suggested we send the pics in to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Another poster mentioned it could be something genetic or a result of a dietary deficiency. Whatever it is, it is certainly interesting to see something so unusual.
