Before we left on Friday, the White-throated Sparrow was in the front yard. His appearance was the first of the year for us and kicked the weekend off to a great start! We had a total of 59 individual species, with 11 first of the year sightings AND TEN new to the life list!! INCLUDING the Red-headed Woodpecker, a species at risk in Ontario and threatened nationally. And what could be more exciting than seeing a Red-headed Woodpecker? Seeing two males square off with each! They were drumming and calling back and forth with each other. It was a great way to start the day on Saturday! We think we probably saw 6-8 separate individuals throughout the park. We can't wait to go back next year!!
