Spring Arrivals 2

We had a House Wren visiting the nesting boxes out back a few days ago. He was checking out the boxes the wrens have used for years. They usually pick one for a nest and fill the other with sticks as a decoy nest. Tree Swallows are busy checking out all the nesting boxes as well. We have Chipping Sparrows visiting the yard daily. Last night, we saw the first Barn Swallow of the season and a Northern Rough-winged Swallow (one we don't see too often). Dave was able to ID it by the call.

New spring arrivals...

We had Kinglets in the trees (but it was so sunny out, we couldn't get a firm ID on whether they were Golden or Ruby-crowned) and one of our very favourites, the Tree Swallow! I caught a glimpse of a swallow yesterday and today we saw quite a few flying around. So glad they are back!
